We design, build and optimize the data platforms behind systems that cannot fail.
Apache Cassandra and DataStax. Snowflake and AI-ready analytics. AWS architecture for startups. Oracle at scale. For eBay, the U.S. Postal Service, Comcast, and the startups that want to get there.
Four practices
Most people arrive knowing the shape of their problem. Start with the one that sounds like yours.

And many more — across telecom, retail, financial services, government and industrial IoT.
Service first
RhinoSource leads with service. In addition to keeping our customers' mission-critical systems running, we build our own products — gr8ful.ai, Tank Patrol, WorkCenter — and they keep us honest at the frontier. What you get first is an architect who has already shipped the thing you are about to build.
Selected work
One from each practice. The systems behind mail tracking, home security, market data and web-scale catalogues.

Sierra Circuits
Sierra Circuits PCB Manufacturing Cloud Transformation
RhinoSource architected and deployed a Snowflake data lake unifying Sierra Circuits' legacy SQL Server and disparate Cloud service data for enterprise BI, built the Cloud application architecture on AWS, and spearheaded data integration for a new Salesforce implementation.

U.S. Postal Service
USPS Informed Visibility DataStax Cassandra Support
DataStax brought RhinoSource in to analyze the large-scale DataStax Enterprise Cassandra and Solr clusters behind Informed Visibility Mail Tracking & Reporting, confirming they could carry significantly increased peak holiday season loads, and to plan zero-downtime upgrades and migration.

Comcast Xfinity Home
Comcast Xfinity Home Oracle Scalability and Replication Architecture
RhinoSource designed the Oracle Partitioning and GoldenGate active-active replication behind Comcast's Xfinity Home IoT platform, and traced a regional wave of false alarms to a bad batch of sensor batteries failing in freezing temperatures.

Netpulse
Netpulse Fitness IoT AWS Cloud Platform/Data Architecture Optimization and BI Reporting
Brought in by the COO to fix system performance and stability problems frustrating customers, RhinoSource overhauled Netpulse's AWS infrastructure, rebuilt legacy MySQL on cached MariaDB clusters for an order-of-magnitude query gain, and migrated MongoDB to DataStax Cassandra and Spark.

A founder's checklist of the AWS architecture decisions that are cheap to make early and painful to retrofit — from account structure and tagging to data store choice and storage lifecycle.
- Five Signals Your Cassandra Cluster Is in Trouble
Cassandra rarely fails loudly — it degrades. Here are the five warning signs that show up again and again in production cluster health checks, and what to look at first.
- Moving Multi-Dimensional Aggregations from Essbase to Snowflake
Essbase precomputed aggregations because compute was scarce. Snowflake changes that assumption — here's how to think about moving multi-dimensional financial aggregations onto a modern data platform.
